Make it Simple

Why Simplicity is important?

Good question.

After a few years of managing a data analytics group in supply chain and implementing different Tableau based tools, I see how people love the new tools which make their work easier,

under one condition.... make it simple. When you come with very nice and informative dashboards that show too much, just remember - most of the people are familiar with excel tables and they will push back on complicated tools.

Try to create one-pager dashboards with simple views at first to make people comfortable with the tools , train people constantly, and don't be a report provider. Instead, teach them how to play with the charts .

Philosopher Lao Tzu once said:

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”

Make it simple, Data transformation is an evolution and not revolution.
